Tides Reach is a timber engineering, and detailing project carried out for Allwood Timber Frames Ltd. The particular challenges here were the coastal location, with high wind loadings, and the requirement for access decks and projecting partially enclosed balconies integrated into the timber frame. The four storey structure also had to be integrated into the reinforced concrete podium level with its complex geometry and the need to reflect the provision for movement across construction joints which impacted design for lateral stability.
